How does it work?

Four main phases in an LCA:

Life Cycle Inventory (LCI): This phase involves compiling an inventory of all the inputs (energy, materials, etc.) and outputs (emissions, waste, etc.) associated with each stage of the product's life cycle. This could include raw material extraction, transportation, manufacturing, distribution, use, and disposal.

  3. Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA): The collected inventory data is used to assess the potential environmental impacts. LCIA involves interpreting the inventory data to understand the significance of the various environmental impacts, such as global warming potential, water usage, air pollution, etc.

  4. Interpretation: The results of the assessment are analyzed and interpreted to draw conclusions and make recommendations. It involves identifying opportunities for improvement and guiding decision-making towards more environmentally friendly options.
